Results of the Evaluation of Facebook Page and Website (English version)

Every six or seven months we evaluate the Facebook page and the Website using a specific questionnaire consisted of 4 demographic questions and 8 combination questions (open and closed). The aim of this evaluation is to help us improve both our Facebook page and team and our Website for the better to meet your needs and interests. The results are presented in detail below.

Description of the evaluation

We used the convenience sampling method to collect data and we sent the questionnaire to the members of our Facebook group “Sciencart”. From November 2019 to May 2020, a total of 8 people participated in this evaluation and their participation was anonymous and in accordance with the law on personal data.

Demographic data

37.5% are male and 62.5% are female. 50% are aged 18-24 and the other half (50%) are aged 40 and over. Regarding the level of studies, 75% are university graduates and 25% are technological institute graduates. Finally, 75% of the sample is unemployed or working in the public sector, while 25% working in the private sector (see table 1 and 2).

Results

75% of the participants answered that they are Very and Very Much satisfied with the structure of the page, while a very small percentage of the sample (25%) answered that they are Moderately satisfied. All participants (100%) answered that they are satisfied with the content of the page. Whether the innovation is applied to the page, half (50%) participants reported that it applies Very and Very much, while the other half (50%) stated that it applies Moderately. Regarding their interaction on the page, 37.5% answered that they interact Very and Very much, while the majority (62.5%) answered that they interact from Not at all to Moderate. If the Facebook page motivates them to enter the Website, 87.5% answered Yes, while 12.5% answered No. Regarding the design of the Website and if it is satisfactory, the majority of the sample (87.5%) answered Yes, while very few (12.5%) answered No. Finally, when asked if the Facebook page and Website are accessible to people with disabilities, 87.5% answered Yes and 12.5% answered No (see table 3).

Table 3: Comparative distribution of frequencies and percentages of the sample

Few participants have made any suggestions on how to improve our Facebook page. Indicatively, some of them are mentioned:

“Perhaps a greater variety in the subject matter” (Woman).

“The suggestions for improvement concern to the Facebook page: 1) It would be good to publish more scientific articles on the subject of "Science and Art" and 2) There should be more interaction between the members so that the pluralism of opinions take place” (Woman).

Limitations and Conclusions

This assessment provides two important limitations. (1) Very few participants responded to the scope for page improvement suggestions (n = 3/8) and (2) the sample is not considered representative of all group members and the Facebook page. In conclusion, most participants are quite satisfied with the page. Finally, the proposals submitted by the participants will be taken into account.
